About Me

The first thing most people learn about me, is that I am a stay-at-home mom to three active boys.  They are 9, 12, and 16 years old.  They are all good boys with very different personalities and quirks.  Some days are better than others and I have my fair share of problems that pop up from time to time and most of them are just part of them growing up.

About me specifically?  I am 36 years old, I live in Washington state (been here my whole life) and I am a pagan witch.  I’ve spent over half my life studying varying subjects in paganism, Wicca and witchcraft.  I really like studying the history of holidays, it’s kind of my thing.  But recently, I completed a five-year course of study in the Tradition I belong to, Temple of Witchcraft.  I’m very excited to be ordained, and one day I hope to officially teach my tradition to others.  We spend a lot of time on personal development, meditation and journaling.

I like to write, sing, play my violin and read.  I also enjoy playing video games from time to time. I particularly love playing games in the Kingdom Hearts (which anyone who thinks its easy because it features Disney characters, you’ve obviously never faced off against Dragon Maleficent on a low-level) and any Final Fantasy game 9 and under (VIII is still my favorite though!).

My life at best is… complicated.  There are a lot of things which I complain about here… but in general, life isn’t too bad.  My living situation isn’t ideal, my relationship with my fiance (the father of my children) is a little crazy at times; at the end of the day, we still love each other and do our best to have a true partnership.

I have a lot of great friends, who help me stay sane, I love them all!  They help make me who I am, but in a good way, mostly.  I also have a tendency to go on a rant now and then on a variety of subjects, some of which can be highly controversial.  I’m not out to offend or make anyone angry.  Sometimes, I just like to share my thoughts and opinions about different subjects.  Doesn’t mean you have to like what I say or even accept it.  It’s called free-speech and we all have that right.  No matter what country a person lives with, I believe that every human being deserves free-speech and the basic right to be who they are… so long as they don’t set out to purposefully harm another person.  Words and actions matter here, people!  Let love and joy reign free!! Let hatred and anger wither and die!  And those are my thoughts on that!

I’m also a little crazy about food, and a recent development, fitness.  Over the years I’ve had a pretty bad relationship with food and health, from anorexia in my youth, to being a lazy blob.  Due to the intervention of some of my dear friends, I’ve made some awesome life-style changes.  I still love food, but now I’m eating healthier, proper portions.  I’m not on a diet, I just learned how to eat right.  I like to eat clean foods that are available naturally in my local region as much as possible.  I like to plan my Sabbat feasts weeks in advance, and sometimes, I even let people vote on what will go on my menu.  It’s loads of fun, I promise.  I’m new to fitness, but so far I’m having a ton of fun.  BeachBody my friends, it’s the way to go. I’ve done a few different workout programs and had a blast with all of them.  From 21 Day Fix, Masters’ Hammer and Chisel, 21 Day Fix Extreme (the name is not a gimmick, I thought I was going to legit die, haha) and Country Heat, I’ve lost a lot of inches and weight and I’m feeling good about myself for the first time in over fifteen years.  My newest program is Core de Force, which is a type of Mixed Martial Arts/Muay Thai program that gets me sore, but in a good way.  I feel pretty tough after one of those workouts.

So yeah, this is me, you’ll kind of figure out how my mind works the more you read here, and if there’s anything you HAVE to know about me, feel free to ask, or read the blog and find the answers for yourself.

Merry Meet! I am in Gig Harbor, WA (near Tacoma). Not sure how far that is from you. A friend of mine in Canada who was searching for information on moon cycles and Sabbats came across your site and forwarded it on to me. You did a nice job on your site, and I can appreciate your in-depth research. I am 40, and have been Wiccan since 2000, but my family does not know. Not living with them and being at least a couple states away probably helps. I am also [mostly – by 85%] gay, (which they do know). Being Wiccan has given me the freedom to live authentically.

In any event, just wanted to say hello. If you fancy developing a new friendship, drop me a line. By the way, the “What’s going on” link within your main site does not seem to be active…just thought you should know.

    • Merry Meet, Shawn!

I live just outside of Seattle, so it’s about an hour drive for me. I have a lot of friends and family out that way, so I’m familiar with the area. It really tickles me pink whenever I find out that people enjoy my website! I’ve been working on that place since 2004 and I’ve done I don’t know how many overhauls, lol. But change is good, and I like making sure that my site viewers get the best that they can from me!

I can’t imagine how hard it must be to not be able to be open about your faith with your family. I remember when I first came to Wicca (back in 1998 actually – I was a teenager then!) my family was NOT pleased, but I guess I managed to win them over after I talked about my new faith at length with them. I don’t know if that would work in your situation, sometimes, no matter how much we want our family to accept our religious beliefs, they are too afraid of the unknown to listen. Is your family accepting your sexuality? If so, perhaps they might be able to accept your faith as well.

I am glad that you are able to live the way you choose to with Wicca, it’s really something freeing, isn’t it? I remember breathing a sigh of relief when I finally managed to figure everything out and know that it wasn’t all just pretend, lol.

I’ll work on that link… every so often some link snafu or hiccup likes to come and taunt me, haha!

      Many Blessings,
      ~ Ravenna

    • Thank you! This means so much to me! I’ve always been told that “I talk too much” but it’s nice to hear that people are actually listening and liking the things I have to say. I hope that you continue to find enjoyment over my little ramblings in the future, I try to update it as much as I can time to do so… though with Samhain coming up in the next few weeks… there will probably be more… LOTS of stuff to ramble on about in October… well October through January actually… the holidays always bring out the rambling-ness in me!

  6. Merriest of Meets Ravenna ~

I am the author of a growing series of books written for Pagan children titled “Rupert’s Tales.” I have recently launched a web-based TV series and am researching Ostara stories for a segment on our show.

I would like permission to read your story of Demeter and Persephone on our show: http://the-illuminati-network.com/?page_id=2396 with appropriate credit of course! While I am aware this is an ages-old story, I like the way you’ve told it here: http://www.angelfire.com/wa3/angelline/demeter_and_persephone.htm

    My email address is friendsofrupert@yahoo.com

    Thank you,

    Friend of Rupert
